European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen tried to rally Brussels around artificial intelligence - and got a single clap for her trouble.
“AI first!” she declared at a recent event, before pausing… and hearing exactly one lonely round of applause.
Her response? A dry laugh:
“I think this is worth an applaud. I heard the one and only person there.”
The moment says it all.
Europe’s trying to hype AI while half the room’s still debating data privacy and draft directives.
Silicon Valley’s building the future; Brussels is still testing the microphone.
