The body of Mary Richardson Kennedy, 52, was found at her home in New York City.

Robert Kennedy Jr. and Mary Richardson had been living separately since Robert filed for divorce from his wife in 2010, who had problems with alcohol and tranquilizers. That year, she was also arrested twice for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Both families expressed deep sadness at her death. The Kennedy family said the deceased was an exceptionally talented architect and environmentalist who was very active in finding a cure for allergies.
